"Jaded"

Chicago-based artist Vivian Le’s work explores her fascination with how history and contemporary media continue to portray children in art as romantic symbols. The characters she depicts collectively inhabit a single dystopia that she continuously develops in her imagery. Through using dolls as metaphors, she is raising questions about the adult gaze and what it means to have agency as an adolescent.
